Michelle Leslie Arrested In Bali For Drugs

If you do the crime, you do the time…

I cant see what all the fuss is about…
Everytime you pick up a paper lately, or watch the TV there is a story about Bali and another drugs arrest. Drugs are evil that should be wiped from the face of this earth, and showing sympathy for persons caught with drugs is also wrong.

Prime Minister John Howard says any Australians carrying drugs into Asia are “stupid” and should not expect any mercy.

Some may argue that the sentances are too severe, but its there country, there laws and there punishment. We should not get involved in trying to assist any person arrested overseas on drugs charges.

Now we got to go thru it all again with Michelle Leslie’s arrest in Bali for having 2 extasy tablets in her handbag. A drug that can and does cause death after taking even just one tablet. When put into perspective that means Leslie alledgedly had in her possession drugs that could easily have caused the death of two people.

   Crazy talk, do your research on exctacy, it’s killed two people in the history of time, and both of them had particular allergies and very extrenuating circumstances, including one of the girls being taken off life support well before she should have been and having her lungs drowned by being force fed far too much water.

   Now in regards to the other matter. As Australians we oppose the death penalty and we uphold human rights- this is why we are country is not as crappy as others. When our citizens are treated inhumanely, unjustly (by the UN’s defintion) or given the death penalty the Government should ALWAYS APPEAL NO MATTER WHAT! That means, David Hicks, Michelle Corby, The Bali Nine, and all the australians who aren’t white and that we don’t hear about. it is a matter of principal and it doesn’t have to be effective, in fact it rarely will be- but that should be the Governments position. Howard doesn’t want to come off as opposed to our neighbours policies and also does not want to encourage drug trafficking, but he is going about this in a wrong and abominally insensitive manner.

   And if you think thieves should have their hands cut off mandatorily you have never for a second in your life thought about what it would be like to live in poverty and witness the lives of the wealthy.

   Wealth in a poverty stricken world is tantamount to thievery.

   In answer to Waywad… Between 2001 and 2004 in Australia the NCIS identified 112 deaths where ecstasy was mentioned. And ecstasy was deemed to be a primary contributor in 51 of those deaths.

   I’m Australian and I believe in the Death Penalty for certain crimes, as do a lot of other Australians who would like to see a few less scumbags in our Country.

    I will attempt to stay on subject matter here regarding Michelle Leslie. Although I don’t believe the possible 15 year term she faced was fair, I do not believe that the 3 month custody term she served could be deemed fair either.
    The basic fact is she broke the law and she should have been punished accordingly. Too many dodgy things surround this case; her supposed relationship that she has/had with the son of a minister, the fact her story changed several times which to me suggests guilt and the fact they used addiction as a reason/excuse for behaviour. The thing that occurs when this happens is that all of a sudden drug addiction and therefore drug addicts can be seen as victims or as having a disease. Addiction is NOT a disease. Addiction is a choice. I do believe also that having a pretty face got her a fair way also.
    She possessed ecstacy and just because she intended to use it (and therefore received a lesser charge) does not negate the fact she had it on her possession.
    Far too many dodgy things happening, far too many changes of story. Hmm, I wonder if she will sell the story, me thinks so. May as well become more of a media whore.
    Sorry, that was harsh.. forgive the name calling. The basic fact is that 3 months is too lenient and me sniffs a little corruption in the air. Nothing new there though, it happens all the time

    I have not got nor can find these statistics you have cited,I collated my own data a couple of years ago which i used for a soc. thesis on Extacy.

    Is this similiar to the way you could blame Marijuana for a death if someone was stoned and crashed their car (which is albeit extremely rare compared to alcohol related deaths)? Or if somebody took amphetimines non stop for weeks and died of starvation? because that’s stupidity or a lack of proper drug education which has killed these people, that is certainly what killed Anna Woods, the most famous Extacy death in Australia.
